why do you want to be a SAHM?

I was not planning to be a SAHM in the beginning of our marriage. My husband, who is a devoted Christian, wanted his wife to be "keeper" at home. I was not so keen about this idea. At that point of time, I was study for my MBA and I wasn't prepared to give up my career.
But, the arrival of our first son changed my whole perspective of my life suddenly, I called it "mother's instinct". I just felt so convinced that I am the best caregiver to my children. I could not imagine to leave my baby with maids or others. I started my new career which is called "motherhood" by reading many books.
It wasn't easy at all at first. I was suddenly transformed from a professional to a housewife. The babytalks and endless house chores sometimes drove me crazy. I was very lonely, and whenever I took a walk with my baby, I surely would bump into some well-meaning people asking me "You are not working, aren't you?" For a long time, I replied meekly "No, I am not"
One day, I was pushing a full-loaded shopping trolley on one hand and dragging my baby's stroller at another one, approaching to check out counter with great difficulty, the counter lady smiled at me, "You are not working, aren't' you?" I, felt so ridiculous, asked her back." Oh, yes, I AM working, 24 hours, 7 days no pay no leaves, I am FULL TIME mother". Looking back, I have been a SHAM for almost ten years. Did I regret? NO. As I said before, motherhood, is also a career, which you can perform well and achieve great success. The greatest achieve for SAHM is your children. Your children need you, a mother, especially when they are young. The time you stayed with them will not be in vain. That bonding and precious moments are all your rewards. When you see your children are happy, secured and well educated, it is most comfort you can have.

If you are thinking to be one of SAHM, let me assure you that you will be doing the greatest favour for your children, your family and yourself. It needs your sacrificial love, needs your perseverance, it will not be an easy sailing, be prepared, but it would be very rewarding experience. What is more to a woman to have a wonderful motherhood experience?
