Grave of the Fireflies

I watched the movie “Grave of the Fireflies " with myyoungest son ”. This was the first time, after long, long time, I cried when I watched a movie. I cannot recall when the last time was.
This is a children’s movie, however, the content is so heavy that even me, an adult felt too heavy to bear. The story happened in the aftermath of a World War II; two orphaned children lost their mother in the air bombing. The brother, 14 years and the sister 4 years old, struggled for their life in the helpless and loveless environment. At first, they stayed with their aunt’s home, but left shortly after bitter and unkind treatment from their aunt. They found an abandoned cave to be their home.
The life had not been kind to two siblings, soon the brother was forced to steal from the farm field and being caught and arrested to police station. The sister was stricken with disease, unable to seek any medical help, weakened daily till death. Finally, the brother was also dead on the street for wanting of food and losing of hope.
This movie showed the tragedy of war and the innocence lost, not only of the abandoned children, but of an entire nation. The most touching part was the love between the brother and sister. In order to get some food for his sister, the brother risked his own life to rob the houses during the air bombing. The cold hearted and indifferent relatives and countrymen were crueler than real enemies. That was the most saddest thing. This is story that reveals the reality, the cruel reality and ugly reality.
I pray that, for the sake of all children, May God let all the wars stop, May Human Kindness, love and empathy be restored. We shall have a hope, if we want to stop such a tragedy, oh, mothers, let us work plant the seed of kindness and humanity into our children's heart, for the peace of the world.
However, the true peace is not something absent but some one present, dear friends, do you know HIM, the Prince of Peace, the Lord Jesus Christ, May you open your heart to HIM for he said “ I will give my peace unto you.”
