Noah has been in school for about one month. Almost everyday, when I ask him "how was the school?" "Fine" is the only answer.
One day, he came home, when I asked him, "How was school?" He said, "Well, there is good news and bad news."
"Ok, bad news first." I was interested.
"eh, I lost my wallet." Noah said.
"And good news ?"
"My teacher helped me to buy some food."
Later that day, it happened to be a meeting parents day. I went to school, lost and found corner, found my son's lost wallet. And after the meeting, I went up to thank Noah's form teacher for her kind help.
The teacher told me, "It was really good thing that he lost his wallet, for that was the first time he ever spoke to me."
The other question I often ask Noah, after "How was the school", was "what did you buy in school canteen?"
"Fish Burger", After one month, I almost get the same answer everyday.
"Did you try some rice, or noddle?"
"Nope"
"Why?"
"I don't know how to buy!"
So one day I decided to go to school during the recess time. The parents volunteers are there to help P1 students to get their food. However, Noah never asks for help. I explained the problem to some of parents volunteers, they assured that they will pay more attention to him. Noah was overjoyed to see me that day during the recess. I asked him,"Do you want some Japanese noddle?"
"Yes." He said happily.
I followed him to the stall, he bought noddle himself. Then carefully back to seat to eat.
After that, I showed him where to put used bowls and spoons. "Is that nice?"
"Yes"
Hopefully, after that he will try to buy some more other varieties of food.
